      Developments

PIPS staff are our most important asset.  From the start we invest in our staff, so they can provide the best support, required to enable people to develop and grow.

Some of our managers started PIPS as Support Workers.  Recognising staff potential having the right values and resilience has enabled us to develop.  PIPS have a number of different leadership paths to development –

      • Social Care Development
      • PBS Development
      • Nursing Development

Here is what a few of our staff had to say about working for PIPS:

“I began working at PIPS in 2019 as a Support Worker.

My training and induction into this service was fantastic. We are taught how to work with our service users by using the PBS framework; this is Positive Behaviour Support, Person Centred Active Support and Person-Centred Care.

I have seen our service users flourish over the years by using these frameworks.  The staff are very dedicated to improving the service user’s quality of life and this has shown.

I was given the opportunity to apply for a Senior Support Worker’s role and was given the support to learn and improve my knowledge and confidence; taking on tasks such as being involved in Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings and staff supervisions and appraisals.

After around 2 years of building up my skills and knowledge in the senior role I was offered the opportunity to apply do a management induction course, when I completed this course I was given the chance to apply for Trainee Deputy Team Manager and completed my Level 5 in management and leadership alongside learning at work.

PIPS have given me so much guidance, confidence and encouragement and supported me to get where I am now.”

“My journey at PIPS has been both rewarding and inspiring. Every day brings something new, which keeps the role engaging and meaningful.

I love the teamwork, the shared values, and the visible difference we make in our service users’ livers especially seeing their smiles when they achieve personal goals.  I’ve benefitted greatly from the two-week induction, online learning and hands on guidance from senior staff. I’m also currently completing an NCFE Level 2 Adult Care Certificate sponsored by PIPS, which is helping me expand my knowledge and confidence in providing quality care.

Looking ahead, I aim to progress into a leadership role where I can mentor others and take a more active part in care planning and behavioural support.”

“I started at PIPS as a Senior Support Worker, I worked in collaboration with my manager as I wanted to progress my career, so my manager sourced some training, Manager Induction Standards. This helped me to understand the roles and expectations of a manager. This then helped me to get my Level 5 in management and Leadership. I am now a Team Manager, managing 4 services.

I feel that the ongoing support and guidance from my manager and PIPS has helped me to learn and grow within the company. The leadership team within PIPS is one where you can ask for help and support and someone will always make time to help.

In the longer term, I would like more flats to manage to be able to get more people out of hospital. PIPS have already gotten so many people out of hospital, giving them hope to have a future and a quality of life.”

“I started off working for PIPS as a Support worker. I was quite young, and it was one of my first jobs.

One of things I enjoyed and appreciated the most especially coming from a hospital background was learning all about PBS and reasons behind why service users may display challenging behaviour. The staff at PIPS I found were eager to develop new staff’s knowledge. One of my colleagues in particularly helped me immensely, this led me to gain the confidence to take the opportunity to advance my career and become a Senior Support worker.

For the future I am greatly looking forward to improving my knowledge and skills even further. I know that when I ask my manager who has helped me throughout my time at PIPS, they will continue to offer support and opportunity that I can hopefully one day take to step up into the next role when I am ready to do so. “
